White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said on Tuesday, during an event, that Brazil and the USA should have today “the best relationship in the history of the two countries”, “certainly” for trade and investment, and “perhaps in security national”.

In the matter, he stated that there is a “great challenge”: China. “We take actions in the USA, and we hope that Brazil moves with us,” said Kudlow, focusing on the telecommunications area. The statements are published by the US-Brazil Business Council.

US Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer attended the same event and said the current relationship benefits both countries in a $ 105 billion trade.

Still, he said that a free trade area is now unlikely to occur, but (President Donald) “Trump would support it if I negotiated one.”

Lighthizer indicated a focus on Jair Bolsonaro’s reforms in areas in which the US is interested, such as combating corruption and actions in the regulatory regime.
